Thanksgiving comes on the fourth Thursday in November every year. We celebrate those things in life for which we are grateful. Moreover, it marks the beginning of the holiday season!
Thanksgiving Day is a time for families, friends, and couples to reunite, watch football games and Thanksgiving Day parades, consume lots of traditional Thanksgiving Day foods, and remember and share old stories and experiences.
You can use thanksgiving as a great opportunity to rekindle your love. Here are a few thanksgiving ideas that will help you make the day memorable.
Make a thankful gesture
Since its thanksgiving season, take the opportunity to appreciate your partner. Whether you decide to gift them a bracelet or jot a love letter, make sure it makes a point. Make it personal and tell them how great your life together has been, and what you are looking forward to in the future together.
Plan a picnic
If you are planning to spend the day with your partner, it is a great idea to plan for a picnic. You can choose a cool park, themed park or a resort. It is even better if you have kids or pets. You can bring them along and enjoy the great outdoors. You can wrap it up with a sunset walk.
Extend your kindness to the less unfortunate
There is no better time than the thanksgiving to give back to society. It is a season to appreciate the abundance in your life. In the same spirit, touch someone's life. You and your partner can do this in so many ways:
- Volunteer at a soup kitchen
- Donate to the food bank
- Pay for someone else’s coffee
- Go do a chore for someone who is struggling
- Pick up rubbish at your favorite park
- Do some yard work for an elderly neighbor
- Take a Thanksgiving treat to someone alone this year
- Donate money to a worthy cause
- Let someone go in front of you at the supermarket
- Donate your good quality clutter to a charity store
Prepare the meals together
Decide together in advance on who will do what when it comes to the straightening the house, planning, preparation, cooking, and clean up responsibilities. You can also try new dishes but its best to try out something you are familiar with especially if you are expecting guests. Dishes have a way to disappoint you during such occasions.
Watch a holiday movie together
Movies are a great way to bond with your partner. Select holiday movies together, prepare snacks and get a blanket to keep your freezing feet warm.
Create new memories
Thanksgiving is not all about traditions. You can always make new memories. For instance, if you planned to visit your family or friends, you can take a detour to a waterfall, or visit a museum or cancel out a few of those bucket lists you have been dreaming about. You and your partner can choose to do things you normally do not do and take your camera with you.
Include your partner in everything you choose to do. As a couple, decide what you should do together, where you will celebrate and create new traditions. This is a joyous season to avoid any boring stuff. Happy Thanksgiving Day friends!
